Accountability

You have to be accountable for things. When you say you’re going to do a thing, you need someone to hold you responsible when it looks like you may drift from the course… or when you crash the car entirely.

I’m making my readers here my accountabilibuddies. I plan to keep up with the writing prompts, doing at least one a day for the whole year. That sounds like a monstrous undertaking, and I may well slip and fall, but that’s what I want to do. I have a handy list of several hundred prompts to work from, so no worries on the base material front; it’s merely a matter of execution.

When the year is up and I have 365 (or maybe some extra) of these little tidbits, I’m going to round them all up and stuff them in a book, if only to say “Hah, I wrote something, and I wrote enough of it to fill up a whole book, so take that, writer’s block!” I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to edit or collate them in any way, or leave them as they were presented, little milestones on my writer’s journey – and if you have a vote for either side or the other, do let me know – but I know I want to do it.

There. I said it. Horrific Inspirations will now commence. Let’s see if I can stick to it. Remember, I’m giving you guys the stick to beat me with, so don’t be shy in using it.

Let’s see how this goes…
